چکیده
Abstract Nut shape is an important trait in determining the value of a pecan ( Carya illinoensis ) nut crop. influences attractiveness to consumers, filling, ease mechanical cracking, and distinctive enough that it primary means cultivar identification. Narrow sense heritability (h 2 fraction phenotypic variance attributed variation genes with additive effect. Estimation h key breeding programs as determines method selection amount genetic gain each cycle. In present study, we estimated characters following two different approaches. First, image-based phenotypes nuts from 34 full-sib families generated random crosses between 31 parents were analyzed for 10 morphometric traits using computer program Tomato Analyzer. The narrow-sense was mid-parent offspring regression method. Second, separate set 19 genotypes phenotyped same years heritabilities by component analysis. Heritability estimates ranged 0.41 0.83 0.26 0.78 Additionally, elliptical Fourier transform performed study overall shape. first three principal components obtained Elliptical explained 65.9% total nut’s roundness angularity proximal distal ends. use high-throughput phenotyping this directly benefit focusing on traits.

Three-dimensional geometric morphometric analysis reveals ethnic dimorphism in the shape of the femur
BACKGROUND Ethnic dimorphism in the distal femur has never been studied in a three-dimensional analysis focused on shape instead of size. Yet, this dimorphism has direct implications in orthopedic surgery and in anthropology. The goal of this study was to show that differences in distal femur shape related to ethnic dimorphism could be identified, visualized, and quantified using 3D geometric m...
متن کاملQuadratic Optimization to Identify Highly Heritable Quantitative Traits from Complex Disease Features
Identifying genetic variation underlying a complex disease is important. Many complex diseases have heterogeneous phenotypes and are products of a variety of genetic and environmental factors acting in concert. Deriving highly heritable quantitative traits of a complex disease can improve the identification of genetic risk of the disease. The most sophisticated methods so far perform unsupervis...
متن کاملWeighted Morphometric Shape Analysis of Diatoms
In this paper we present an approach for diatom classification on the basis of contour information. First an initial feature set is analysed. Then we present a method to reduce this initial feature space while preserving its discriminative power. Both results based on the initial feature space and the reduced one are compared and the classification method is discussed.
متن کاملMorphometric Shape Analysis with Measurement Covariance Estimates
We propose a shape analysis system based upon the description of landmarks with measurement covariance, which extends statistical linear modelling processes to ‘pseudo landmarks’ for scientific studies. We discuss the properties of our approach and how measurement covariances can be considered characteristic of the local shape. Our formulation includes corrections for parameter bias, induced by...
